Dr Martin Unger
President & Executive Producer
Dr Unger practiced as a leading Cosmetic Plastic Surgeon in both Canada and the USA for over thirty years. He was a Medical Consultant for both Revlon and Faberge, and the lead Clinical Investigator for AstraZeneca in Canada for their EMLA product. Since 2005 he has been President and CEO of Empire Pharmaceutical Inc. He has been President of Yonge Street Productions (YSP) for the past 5 years. Most recently YSP has been involved with the international Award Winning film “That Scottish Play.” Martin is now working as a Producer on the feature film, 'The Retirement Plan,' and the online children's book series, 'Harrison's Hat.'
Brian Kennington
Producer & Writer
Writer, actor and director, Brian has worked in theatre, film and television over the past forty years. He has written and directed plays and movies, including three short films that have won numerous awards worldwide at festivals. Brian is also working as writer and producer with the Unger’s and Patricia Scarlett on the animated children's series, 'Harrison's Hat', the comedy series, “The Nail Files,”
and the dramatic feature film, “Dying to Retire.”
Melanie Unger
Vice-President & Writer
Melanie has been involved with the Arts throughout her life. She studied ballet from the age of six, won a prestigious Canadian Kiwanis award for piano, and studied art at The Ontario College of Art. She participated in writing several award-winning radio programs and commercials with Sonic Workshop, and in the 1990’s was a Judge for the Hollywood Radio and Television Society. Melanie has created and written children’s programming for both online and hard-cover books, as well as television. She is now developing an animation series based on her digital children's books, “Harrison's Hat,” and is also producing the feature film, “Dying to Retire.”
Patricia Scarlett
Producer & Writer
Scarlett’s early experience in the industry began at TVOntario where she worked primarily in international sales. As a highly successful Sales Executive at TVOntario, she initiated and closed TVOntario’s first educational broadcast and educational non-broadcast sales in Brazil. During that time, she developed and nurtured a few valuable relationships with producers and broadcasters which have culminated in several significant professional achievements, including her licensing Ataranjuat: The Fast Runner, winner of the Camera D’Or at the 2001 Cannes International Film Festival, to the CBC. She’s currently in post-production on a new documentary feature entitled, “Of Cod and Rum: The Newfoundland Connection.” She regularly attends industry trade events such as MIP-TV & MIPCOM in Cannes, France.
